Why do product designers and architects choose perforated metals?

OEM designers and architects choose perforated metals because they offer a unique combination of aesthetic appeal, functionality, and versatility. The holes in perforated metals provide opportunities for creative design while also serving practical purposes such as airflow, light diffusion, sound absorption, and visibility.

What are the advantages of using perforated metals in industrial design and architecture?

Perforated metals offer several advantages in industrial design and architecture. Some key benefits include:

  • Enhanced aesthetics: Perforated metals can add visual interest and texture to structures or products, creating a unique and appealing design element.
  • Functionality: The presence of holes allows for airflow, sound transmission control, light diffusion, and visibility, making perforated metals suitable for applications such as ventilation systems, acoustic panels, decorative screens, and façade cladding.
  • Structural integrity: Despite having holes, perforated metals maintain their structural strength, making them durable and capable of withstanding various environmental conditions.
  • Customization options: Perforated metals can be tailored to specific design requirements, offering flexibility in hole size, shape, spacing, and overall sheet dimensions.
What are some examples of how perforated metals solve design problems?

Here are a few examples of how perforated metals can solve design problems:

  • Microwaves: Perforated metals can be used in microwave oven doors, allowing visibility into the oven while blocking harmful microwaves.
  • Sound absorption: Perforated metal panels can be installed in auditoriums, concert halls, or office spaces to reduce echo and enhance acoustics by absorbing sound waves.
  • Filtration: Perforated metals with fine holes can be utilized as filters for air, water, or gases, removing impurities and providing purification.
  • Façade design: Perforated metal sheets can be used as cladding for building facades, creating an eye-catching appearance, providing shade, and allowing natural ventilation.
  • Security and safety: Perforated metals can serve as security screens or fencing, offering visibility while maintaining a barrier and ensuring safety.

Do we have a minimum part quantity?

No, but the setup and processing time for a single part will most likely be higher compared to producing multiple parts at once, which can affect the cost.

Do we make perforated products or just warehouse them?

Yes, to both. Our decades of experience have made us more accurately aware of commonly used materials and patterns in the industries we serve. To provide our customers with those materials and keep lead times as low as possible, we stock certain products. Please contact us for more information.

What information do I need to place an order?
  • Hole size and spacing
  • Material type (ex: mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum)
  • Material thickness

Note: If one of the above is not known or is not critical to your project, just let us know, and we will be happy to make a recommendation. Also, any drawings or plans of the project are beneficial for understanding your needs.

I need a large amount of open area. How much open area can I have?

It depends. For holes under 3/8" in diameter, the industry standard is 40%. If we cannot achieve your desired open area, we are happy to make a recommendation using our years of experience to find the perfect solution for your project.

Do you offer samples?

Yes, we can offer samples. We first like to have a conversation directly with the customer about the specifics of the project to make sure we are providing you with something that will be of the most benefit to you and your project.

What kind of price range can I expect?
